Chelsea’s interest in Hernandez has been reported since early May, despite having Marc Cucurella and Ben Chilwell on their books, indicating how highly he is rated at Stamford Bridge.
In April, Fabrizio Romano poured cold water on Arsenal’s links to Hernandez, claiming that AC Milan had no interest in selling the World Cup winner.
As for Manchester City, they have not had a natural left-back at their disposal for several years, with Josko Gvardiol, Nathan Ake, Manuel Akanji and Rico Lewis emerging as makeshift options for Pep Guardiola instead.
TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has been informed that Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City are being constantly notified about Theo Hernandez’s uncertain future at AC Milan.
Hernandez has just 18 months left on his contract and so far, Milan have failed to persuade him to sign an extension.
The Serie A winner has also fallen out with manager Paulo Fonseca, who replaced Stefano Pioli as recently as in the summer.
The rapid decline of Hernandez’s relationship with Fonseca has emerged as a surprise for AC Milan as the former was one of France’s shining lights once again at the European Championships.
It was expected that the former Real Madrid technician would sign a brand-new contract but as things stand, talks with AC Milan over a fresh deal have not gone according to plan.
Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City have admired Hernandez for several years now.
With that being the case, the Premier League trio are being kept informed about the status of the 27-year-old’s contract talks with AC Milan, as there is a big question mark over whether he puts pen to paper.
Bayern Munich have also earmarked Hernandez as a potential replacement for Alphonso Davies in the event that the Canadian speedster bids farewell to the Allianz Arena in the summer.
Bayern’s interest in the revered defender is a longstanding one, as they were keen on his signature during now-PSG defender Lucas Hernandez’s time in Bavaria.
Ahead of AC Milan’s 1-0 win against Hellas Verona, Paulo Fonseca claimed that Hernandez is “the best full-back in the world.”
Fonseca’s claim emerged after he decided to bench Hernandez in his side’s 0-0 draw against Genoa.
However, in 16 Serie A games this season, the highly-rated full-back has started just 10 times.
The likes of Alex Gimenez and Alexis Saelemaekers have been preferred to him at times this campaign, which would excite Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City, as the possibility of Hernandez being available to sign is a tremendous market opportunity for any club looking for a new left-back.
