JUST IN: Balotelli already set for January exit after six months…see more

Genoa director Marco Ottolini confirms that Mario Balotelli will probably leave in the January transfer window. ‘We’re trying to find a solution to suit everyone.’

The Grifone are in action this evening for the final Serie A Week 22 fixture against Monza at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, also known as Marassi.

It kicks off at 19.45 GMT, you can follow all the action as it happens on the Liveblog.

Despite an injury crisis that drags on, Balotelli is not even part of the squad for the second game in a row and coach Patrick Vieira has shrugged off any questions about his status.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia before kick-off, Genoa director Ottolini confessed that this brief experience is already at an end.

“Mario has dropped down the pecking order, he is eager to get more playing time. In the final days of the transfer window, we will try to find a solution that suits everyone.

“We are trying to find somewhere he can go to play. He is not getting minutes on the pitch at Genoa right now, so we consider the best solution to be finding somewhere he can get that.”

The 34-year-old only joined Genoa as a free agent on October 28, a decision he had made partly because the coach at the time was Alberto Gilardino.

However, he was fired a few days later, replaced by Patrick Vieira, who already famously clashed with Balotelli at OGC Nice.

SuperMario managed just six Serie A appearances for Genoa with a total 56 minutes of football on the pitch.

His only contribution was two yellow cards.
