The Golden State Warriors are searching for a superstar to pair with Stephen Curry this season.
An electric Phoenix Suns wing could be the perfect fit for the franchise.
“There’s a couple of teams in the Western Conference hovering around the Play-In Tournament,” YouTube user ‘SROS’ said Monday.
“The (Sacramento) Kings just made a big move, the (San Antonio) Spurs just made a big move, same with the (Dallas) Mavericks and the (Los Angeles) Lakers. Well, a team that wants to make a big move to help out their aging star is the Golden State Warriors.”
“They want to help out Steph Curry, let’s get him an old teammate as well, we’re going to have another reunion here, this one is going to send Kevin Durant to Golden State.”
In SROS’s full trade proposal, the Warriors would send Andrew Wiggins, Gary Payton II, Kyle Anderson, Jonathan Kuminga, Brandin Podziemski, and two future first-round picks to the Suns for Durant.
While Durant only spent three seasons with the Warriors, he guided the franchise to two championship victories over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Many criticized the 15-time All-Star for abandoning the Oklahoma City Thunder following a disappointing end to the 2015-16 season.
Still, Durant blocked out the noise and performed at an A+ level in the Bay.
Durant also built a steady relationship with Curry during his short stint with the Warriors, making it easier for Golden State to consider a reunion with the future Hall-of-Famer.
Considering the Warriors don’t have a realistic shot at landing Jimmy Butler, Durant could be the organization’s safest superstar trade target.
The Suns have played well lately but still haven’t exhibited signs of greatness, possibly compelling Phoenix to explore trades involving their leading scorer.
Many Golden State fans won’t be thrilled with the franchise relinquishing Kuminga in a potential deal for Durant.
Regarding win-now pieces, though, there’s no question Durant holds a massive edge over the promising young wing.
