Sky: How Milan can ‘save the season’…see more

AC Milan were eliminated from the Champions League by Feyenoord at San Siro tonight, and Joao Felix is the latest to express his disappointment.

Milan made life difficult for themselves after a poor first leg in Rotterdam, meaning that they needed to win by at least one goal at San Siro in the return leg to continue their Champions League journey.

Things could not have started any better for the Rossoneri as Santiago Gimenez came back to haunt his former club, heading in from close range after a short corner after less than 60 seconds.

Theo Hernandez was shown a second yellow card for a dive and that completely altered the complexion of the tie, giving Feyenoord belief that didn’t seem to be there before.

Julian Carranza then came off the bench to equalise on the night and send the Dutch side through with a 1-1 tie on the night and therefore a 2-1 win on aggregate.

Felix spoke to Sky after the full-time whistle to offer his assessments on what was not a positive night for the Rossoneri by any means, and his comments were relayed by MilanNews.

Did you kill yourselves like Ibrahimovic said?

“It’s true that it went like this, we were controlling the game and we were about to score the second goal. They had never created any danger for us. After the red card the game was completely different.”

How much disappointment in the dressing room room?

“So much disappointment. Personally too, I really wanted to play in the Champions League with Milan and instead I only played two games. This is football, we all have to learn, young and old.”

What is the target of the season now?

“Now we have the Coppa Italia, we are in the semi-finals. Then we have the league and the goal is to finish in the top four. Try to win a trophy and finish in the top four: this can save the season.”
