Sport news: Milan identify two candidates as Hernandez

Theo Hernandez’s tenure at AC Milan is seemingly coming to an end and according to a report, the Rossoneri have identified two key candidates to replace him.

It has been a very tough season for the French left-back, failing to perform at the standard Milan fans had become used to. The red card against Feyenoord was very symbolic for the campaign as a whole and since then, rumours of an imminent exit have only grown stronger.

According to Niccolo Ceccarini in his latest mercato editorial for TMW, Hernandez is likely to be put up for sale in the summer. The contract expires in 2026 and there are no signs of a renewal for the time being, prompting Milan to look at other solutions.

Two candidates have been identified for the role, namely Nuno Tavares (Lazio) and Maxim De Cuyper (Club Brugge). A lot will likely also depend on how Milan’s management will look in the summer, if a sporting director will be brought in and so on.

Tavares bagged two assists against Milan earlier in the season, in the 2-2 draw at Stadio Olimpico, while De Cuyper impresses under the San Siro floodlights in the Champions League. Everything should be clearer as we get closer to the summer, though.
