SN: Lazio boss Baroni accuses Milan and Juventus of…see more

Lazio head coach Marco Baroni has fired a shot in the week of their trip to face AC Milan, accusing them of changing objectives during the season.

Speaking to SportMediaset on the eve of the Coppa Italia match against Inter, Baroni was asked what the objectives are for his side between now and the end of the current campaign, given they are still in three competitions.

“We accept the criticism after Venezia, but for me it was still a mature match, on these pitches it is not easy for anyone. Castellanos out for a month? It must not be an alibi, we all have to give something more,” he said (via MilanPress).

“The table is look at at the end, doing so now would be a useless waste of energy. Objectives are not changed during the season. For Juve, Milan or Atalanta it was like this, for us it is not. We want to stay where we are.”

Admittedly, he may have a point given that Paulo Fonseca – who started the season as the head coach of Milan – declared that his side should fight to win the league title. There were similar Scudetto aspirations mentioned for Juventus too, after their overhaul.

However, the target has become simply to get into the top four spots and to avoid missing out on Champions League football, something that would bring economic and reputation damage.
