AC Milan are prepared to sell Mike Maignan to Manchester United this summer after a season of blunders.
According to MilanLive, United are ready to make a move for the AC Milan number one this summer.
And Maignan is now widely considered to be available for transfer if Milan receive an offer they are happy with.
Until recently, Maignan had been considered untouchable at San Siro but he has endured a miserable season – just like the rest of his team, who are currently ninth in Serie A with no chance of making the Champions League.
Maignan has made a string of costly blunders this season, including a catastrophic error that allowed Feyenoord to eliminate Milan from the Champions League playoffs.
It has been reported in numerous outlets in recent days that Ruben Amorim is far from impressed with what he has seen from Andre Onana since the manager’s appointment at Man Utd in November.
Onana signed for Man Utd in the summer of 2023 for €51m – plus €4m in bonuses – from Inter Milan.
Big things were expected of the Cameroonian, who had enjoyed an outstanding Champions League season with the Nerazzurri, playing a key role in their run to the final.
He kept more clean sheets than anyone in the tournament, including five in the knockout rounds, as Inter narrowly and unluckily lost 1-0 to Man City in the showpiece in June. He was also heralded as the best goalkeeper in the world with the ball at his feet.
However, Onana endured an error-prone season last term, with United having their worst defensive record and most goals conceded in decades.
He made a string of mistakes, in particular in the Champions League group stage elimination in games against Galatasaray, Copenhagen and Bayern Munich.
This season Onana has improved a touch but he has still made far too many errors in what has been another disastrous season for Man Utd.
