The 2023/24 season is about to begin for Liverpool with a trip to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea this Sunday. But what has happened since the Reds were last in action and how is Jürgen Klopp’s squad shaping up?

Liverpool.com has taken a look at everything you need to know on the transfer front and much more ahead of the new campaign beginning, rounding up how the Reds’ squad is looking and plenty else besides.

Starting with a look at the Liverpool squad in full, we have also got all the info you need on the contract situation that some players are currently in, which signings have been made already and which are coming, the transfer fees paid out this summer, and how to watch the upcoming matches on TV or streaming platforms both in the US and the UK.

Liverpool squad in full

Goalkeepers: Alisson, Kelleher, Adrián

Defenders: Alexander-Arnold, Bradley, Konaté, Van Dijk, Gomez, Matip, Phillips, Robertson, Tsimikas

Midfield: Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Jones, Elliott, Thiago, Bajčetić, (plus young players who could be involved, including Bobby Clark)

Attack: Salah, Gakpo, Díaz, Núñez, Jota (plus young players who will be involved, including Ben Doak)

Liverpool needs to get at least one more transfer in midfield over the line and is looking a little bit light of depth at the back, with a defender of paramount importance.

Liverpool summer transfers so far

To date, Liverpool has only signed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, despite losing Naby Keïta, James Milner, Roberto Firmino, Arthur Melo and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Mac Allister was a $44m (£35m/€40m) addition from Brighton when Liverpool triggered the release clause in his contract while Szoboszlai also had a set price, which Jörg Schmadtke activated with a payment of $77m (£61m/€70m).

Roméo Lavia could be the next one through the door with the former Manchester City midfielder on the Reds’ radar.

Premier League 2023/24 TV channels, live streams in US and UK: How to watch Liverpool

In the US, certain matches are televised on USA Network (in English) and Telemundo or Universo (in Spanish), and all three channels can be streamed on Fubo. The rest of the matches are streamed on NBC platform Peacock for subscribers.

In the UK, fixtures are to be shown across Sky Sports and TNT Sports streaming and TV platforms, with select matches on Amazon Prime at various points across the campaign including on Boxing Day.

Contracts expiring in 2024

Liverpool has some big decisions to make on players’ futures. Joël Matip and Thiago Alcântara are the only outfield players whose deals run out next summer and right now, it seems likely that both will leave.

If Thiago could stay fit and make a big impression this season, there would be a case for offering the Spaniard an extension four years after signing him from Bayern Munich. Matip, meanwhile, has already shown signs of decline at the age of 32.

Adrián is also out of contract. He signed a one-year deal to remain put for another year and while he is unlikely to play, he is vital in training sessions and is well-liked around the AXA Training Centre.
