Sandro Tonali left AC Milan two years ago in favour of Premier League side Newcastle, which disappointed a lot of the Rossoneri. However, as confirmed by the midfielder’s entourage, he will eventually return to Italy.
As confirmed by Milan’s accounts for the 2023-24 season, Newcastle paid just under €60m for Tonali’s services and it certainly helped boost the Rossoneri’s transfer budget that summer. However, since his departure, the team has severely lacked a Milanista.
Many fans are thus hoping that Tonali will return to the club one day, as has been hinted many times. In an interview on the SportItalia podcast, as transcribed by Calciomercato.com, one of Tonali’s agents/his manager Marianna Mecacci confirmed that he will return to Italy eventually.
He will return to Italy. When? It’s difficult to say. I started following him in Brescia, that operation that brought him to England was extraordinary, but I understand why it has caused discontent. Tonali, son of AC Milan, a faith that is there and will remain forever, is sold for a record sum.
“It was also an opportunity to try a new experience. As long as the opportunity of the Premier League is there, he will take advantage of it, but it’s impossible to think that he won’t return to Italian football,” she stated.
It’s difficult to imagine him playing for any other big Italian club than Milan, so one would have to assume that the return to Italy would include a move to the Rossoneri. For now, though, the player is happy at Newcastle and wants to stay there.
