Ahead of the clash between AC Milan and Lecce, scheduled for 18:00 Italy time, the Rossoneri’s technical director Geoffrey Moncada spoke to the media. He insisted that the relationship with Sergio Conceicao is great, contrary to reports.
It has certainly been chaotic for Milan in the last few weeks, losing three consecutive defeats and having to work in a really tense atmosphere. The words of Conceicao’s spokesperson, who later resigned, didn’t help the situation either.
Speaking to DAZN ahead of tonight’s game, as transcribed by MilanNews, Moncada shared his thoughts on recent events and the remainder of the season. He insisted that the relationship with Conceicao is really good, contrary to what some reports have suggested.
The story of Conceicao’s spokesperson… What is your position?
“Yesterday, the coach spoke to us and everything was clear between us. There are no problems, we work together every day and there is a really good relationship. I’m always at Milanello with him and Zlatan, for us everything is clear. Now the game is important, for once we had a week of work and we worked well at Milanello, calmly.”
What do you feel is lacking in the club now? A sporting director?
“I think that in football the sporting director position is important. If there is a person who can help AC Milan at this moment, yes, we will evaluate it. But without stress. We must look together.”
How much does it matter, in view of the future, to reach a European competition, be it the Europa League or the Champions League?
“It’s important. We still have 11 games. We have to continue, it’s not over. Every game is like a final, there’s still the Coppa Italia with the derby. We still have a lot to play for. We’re not happy, we’re angry, we’re working to get back to a good level.”
How much is Conceicao ‘at risk’ today?
“We are here to win tonight. We are with the coach, we have total confidence in him and we work with him every day.”
Milan will need to come away with all three points tonight, otherwise they could be in for some tough evaluations. Even if Conceicao arrived mid-season, losing four games in a row is never acceptable.
