SC: What Maignan did to show support for Milan…see more

We have often seen players support AC Milan this season if they are unavailable for selection for whatever reason, and this happened once again with Mike Maignan this weekend.

Throughout the year, despite talks of splits in the management, the squad has remained quite close to one another, trying to fight against the difficulties of their season together, rather than facing the challenges alone.

We saw it in the Champions League, where Matteo Gabbia and Alessandro Florenzi both flew out to Madrid to watch the 3-1 win, and there have been several other moments similar since. Now, the latest instance has happened.

Despite being suspended, Maignan still wanted to be present for his team’s game this weekend, and as Gazzetta dello Sport (via Milan News) confirm, the Frenchman flew with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Geoffrey Moncada to watch his team.

Following the game, he travelled back with the team, and likely had some words of encouragement after their tremendous comeback, even if it came in less than ideal circumstances.

Given the Frenchman has been the captain in recent weeks, it only further cements his position within the team as a leader, and fans will be massively onboard with his decision to support his teammates in person.
