For weeks, numerous rumors of various kinds have been swirling around Milan: some about the new sporting director, others about the future coach, others still about the fate of certain players in the squad, and even more regarding contract renewals, whether imminent or not. In short, the distractions are many, but the Rossoneri’s season is not over yet. In fact, there is still a Coppa Italia to try to win and a place in Europe to fight for. This was reported this morning by Corriere della Sera.
What’s Sergio Conceicao’s future at Milan?
On this topic, the coach, speaking yesterday at a press conference in Milanello on the eve of the home match against Como, stated:
“You say that rumors about next year have dominated the past week, but are you joking? I’ve been hearing these rumors for a month and a half; they practically started the week after the Supercoppa victory. I can’t control what others say. Sometimes, it feels like there’s a lack of respect for those who work, but I’ve been in football for many years, and I’m used to it.”
For some time now, discussions have been ongoing about the future of the Milan bench, where the Portuguese will not be present. Among the many names linked to the Rossoneri, Cesc Fabregas, the current Como coach, has also emerged. However, Conceição has no intention of reducing today’s match at San Siro to a personal duel between him and the Spaniard:
“If my motivation to beat Como were just that, I’d be sick and should go to the hospital. It’s not Conceição against Fabregas.”Milan’s renewals and purchases plans
But the circulating rumors aren’t just about the Portuguese coach. Some players, like João Félix, are also fighting for their future in this season finale. The Spanish playmaker is on a dry loan from Chelsea and is aiming for a confirmation, though at the moment, that appears highly complicated.
Milan is also working to finalize some key contract renewals as quickly as possible, such as those of Christian Pulisic and Mike Maignan. The French goalkeeper has reached a verbal agreement on a contract extension until 2028, but it has yet to be formalized with signatures.
However, all these matters are currently on hold because the appointment of a new sporting director must come first. During the international break, CEO Giorgio Furlani will hold further discussions with potential candidates for the role—Fabio Paratici, Tony D’Amico, and Igli Tare are in the running, barring any surprises.
