Breaking news: Fabregas smiles when asked about Milan rumours Next question”

During his post-match press conference yesterday, Cesc Fabregas was asked about the rumours linking him with AC Milan. However, the Spaniard didn’t give anything away.

It’s not exactly a secret that Milan are looking for a new head coach ahead of next season. Sergio Conceicao was an emergency solution and he hasn’t impressed enough to earn a stay. Indeed, the Rossoneri will not trigger the renewal clause in his contract.

Fabregas, who nearly came away with a great result in the game between Milan and Como last night, is one of the candidates according to Italian media. When asked about the matter during his post-match presser (via Il Garante), he was very coy.

The fact that you came to play a match of this type, so beautiful, with so many football ideas, do you think it could strengthen your candidacy?

“Next question (smiles).”

The rumours have to be taken with a pinch of salt for now, as Milan still need to decide their next sporting director before shifting focus to the head coach role. Only then will we know the main targets to replace Conceicao.

That being said, Como did play great football last night and perhaps deserved to come away with at least one point. Had it not been for a very narrow offside just before Christian Pulisic’s equaliser, they likely would have won.
