Report: Morata hints regret over Milan move? “I should have thought more carefully

Álvaro Morata, a forward whom Milan had signed for 13 million euros in the summer 2024 transfer window, quickly left the Rossoneri after scoring 6 goals in 25 matches, moving to Galatasaray in the following winter window. Today, in an interview with El Larguero on Cadena SER, he reflected on his moves over the past year.

“I think that last summer I should have thought more carefully about whether or not to leave Atlético Madrid,” Morata began, having been loaned by Milan to Galatasaray with an option to buy. “When you’re not feeling well at a certain point in your life, you make the wrong decisions in every aspect. Now, things can’t be changed anymore, and today I am very happy. If I could go back, I probably wouldn’t make that decision. Now I realize that I wasn’t able to see reality. We were European champions, and at Atlético, there were more and more people who loved and understood me.

When you go through difficult moments, you see things in a gray light, even if you have people around you who love you and tell you that you’re making a mistake,” continued the former Real Madrid, Juventus, and Chelsea striker. “During the Euros, this bothered me, and then the Milan opportunity came up. The coach was calling me every day—I needed to feel loved and appreciated. Looking back now, I realize that even Diego Pablo Simeone cared about me. My father and my agent told me I was making a mistake.
