Transfer: Forest face Arsenal competition for £25m Roma star…see more

Arsenal are eyeing Roma centre-back Evan Ndicka as summer plans begin to take shape, but they face competition from Nottingham Forest and Real Madrid.

Arsenal are reportedly monitoring Evan Ndicka, with the AS Roma defender emerging as a potential summer target for clubs across Europe.

The 25-year-old, who signed a five-year deal with Roma after joining on a free from Eintracht Frankfurt, in 2023, is attracting interest from Arsenal, Nottingham Forest and Real Madrid.

With a €30 million (£25 million) price tag, the Ivory Coast international is expected to be one of the most sought-after centre-backs in the upcoming window.

While Nottingham Forest are said to be keen on strengthening their back line regardless of whether they secure European football, the report adds that Arsenal are also tracking the left-footed defender. Given Mikel Arteta’s preference for building play from the back, Ndicka‘s profile fits the mould of a modern, ball-playing centre-back – capable on the turn and comfortable progressing possession.

However, Ndicka’s situation at Roma is complicated.

The Italian side are currently seventh in Serie A, and their qualification for European competition could play a crucial role in determining whether a transfer is feasible. As reported, “if Roma qualify for any European competition, a move for Ndicka could become difficult,” while failure to do so would make a departure “likely.”

Despite arriving in the Italian capital just two years ago, Ndicka has already made over 75 appearances and established himself as a key player in the squad. A product of Auxerre‘s youth system, his development continued in Germany, where he played over 180 games for Eintracht Frankfurt, winning the UEFA Europa League in 2022.
