The Oklahoma City Thunder have been the most dominant team in the Western Conference and arguably the entire NBA this season.
Oklahoma City currently sits at the top of the West standings with an incredible 64-14 record and they will be the number one overall seed entering the playoffs.
Despite this, the Thunder are coming off a 126-99 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday in a game that had massive seeding implications for the Lakers.
Of course, the two teams will meet again on Tuesday in Oklahoma City where the Thunder will look to bounce back with a victory, but the Lakers have been playing extremely well lately.
With the Lakers victory on Sunday, former NFL player and current ESPN analyst and well-known Lakers fan Shannon Sharpe made another laughable statement on Monday’s episode of First Take.
“Boy, y’all are in a heap of trouble,” Sharpe said about the Thunder and the rest of the NBA following the Lakers victory over the Thunder on Sunday.
Of course, Sharpe has continued to make laughable remarks regarding the Lakers and Thunder this season with his famous “Lakers in five” statements and this is just another terrible take by the former NFL star.
Oklahoma City has had an incredible season thus far and are one of the favorites to win the title this season.
In Sunday’s loss, the Thunder put together a solid game but were unable to overcome the Lakers’ hot shooting as Los Angeles shot 54.8% from the field and 55.0% from three-point range as a team.
Most teams will not be able to do this against the Thunder, especially in a series during the playoffs and while the Lakers do have two superstar players in LeBron James and Luka Doncic, they are not an exception.
Because of this, the Thunder are clearly the team to beat in the West and while the Lakers have improved since adding Doncic at the trade deadline, they still have a way to go before they are a true championship contender despite what Sharpe believes.
