Chelsea’s battle for Moises Caicedo with Liverpool has continued for a week now, and has even begun to spread to a second front.
With the Blues appearing to have won a war of attrition to secure the Brighton star, Liverpool have redoubled their long standing efforts to sign Romeo Lavia from Southampton. But they’re not even going to be able to get that done. We’re stalking them on that front too.
Sky Sports are among the sources claiming that an agreement between us and the Saints is “close,” while Liverpool continue to work towards an agreement of their own.
The player is likely happy to move either way, so it comes down to a race between the two interested parties to get a deal with Southampton in place. After spending something like £110m on Caicedo, it looks like we will spend half that again on Lavia to add further depth to our midfield.
