The 28-year-old goalkeeper won the Nations League 2023 with Spain.
Kepa Arrizabalaga (Ondarroa, Vizcaya, 03/10/1994) has joined Real Madrid. Our squad has been strengthened by the addition of a goalkeeper with international experience, having won the Nations League 2023 with the Spanish national team and having played more than 100 Premier League games.
Kepa, 28, joins Real Madrid after five seasons at Chelsea, where he won 1 Champions League, 1 Club World Cup, 1 European Super Cup and 1 Europa League. He was the recipient of the award for the best save in the Premier League 2022/23. Capped 13 times for Spain, he won the European Under-19 Championship in 2012.
Kepa joined Athletic Club’s youth academy in 2004, when he was 10 years old, and when he was still a youth player in 2012, he joined the first team squad. Following two loan spells, he established himself in the Athletic squad, where he made his debut in September 2016. He signed for Chelsea in 2018, where he made 163 appearances. Among them, the final of the 2018/19 Europa League beating Arsenal (4-1) and the European Super Cup victory over Villarreal in 2021. Kepa came on before the penalty shoot-out and was decisive in that final, saving two spot-kicks.
