Sports Analyst Alan Hahn has one piece of advice for Los Angeles Lakers superstar Luka Doncic- He should grow up. The Lakers are under heavy scrutiny after suffering a first-round NBA playoffs 2025 exit to the lower-seeds Minnesota Timberwolves. During an episode of ESPN’s Get Up, Hahn, along with other pundits blasted Doncic for his poor conditioning.
Hahn said that someone needs to tell Luka to grow up and take his skills seriously. He said, “When he is 26, grow up, right? It’s time to grow up. Like, stop being lazy about it. Take your craft seriously. Playing pickup basketball gets you in shape when you are in high school. It doesn’t get you in shape in the NBA, and that has been proven all around the league.”
He added that somebody needs to look him in the eye and say ‘Grow Up’. Notably, Luka’s conditioning has been a topic of serious discussion ever since he was traded to the LA Lakers from the Dallas Mavericks in February 2025. The statement from Hahn came after Lakers coach JJ Redick said in his press conference that while there are a few players who were in phenomenal shape, others could have been in better shape.
Apart from Alan Hahn, former Chicago Bulls guard Jay Williams also slammed the 26-year-old for his health. He reacted to Redick’s statement and said that taking accountability isn’t hate, but it is the price you have to pay for the throne. Williams said, “Accountability isn’t hate, it’s the price of the throne. If you want to do things that other people haven’t done, you have to be willing to do a lot of things that other people haven’t done.”
During the press conference, Redick had said that he would start with the offseason and the work that would be required is to be in championship shape. Referring to it, Williams said Doncic doesn’t have championship habits, and while he has been to the Western Conference Championship, those habits need to be changed if he wants to win the ultimate title.
Williams added, “LeBron James has championship habits. The habits we’ve seen from Luca are not of a championship player. His talent has gotten him to the Western Conference Championship, but in order for him to win an NBA championship, those habits have to adjust.”
The 43-year-old didn’t mince his words and went on to say that while the former Mavericks’ star is 26 years old, he has the body of a 40-year-old. He stated, “He has the body of a 40 year-old, right? So like when you’ve been in the league and you’ve been a pro for 10 plus years, those are like dog years. You’re not coming into the situation fresh. So can you get your body right? And then how long can it sustain?”
Notably, in the recently-concluded five-game series, Doncic averaged 41 minutes per game against the Wolves. He averaged 30.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 5.8 assists. He was shooting 45.2% from the field and 34.8% from the threes.
