In the past 18 months, there has been extensive talk about the stadium issues, and now, we are finally seeing some movement on things – though, it is more a case of necessity rather than actual determination to do so it seems.

For example, reports at the weekend suggested that time was running out for RedBird and Oaktree to get a deal organised, but Beppe Sala has revealed that the club’s will actually have preferential treatment.

It remains to be seen what the plans for the stadium look like, something which must be worked out, however, it points in the direction of a ‘New San Siro’, and it seems this could be preferable where UEFA are concerned – for things like the Champions League and also the European Championships.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, the head of UEFA, Aleksander Ceferin, spoke about the current San Siro, and Football Italia have relayed his damning words.

“San Siro is always great, but I would prefer a more modern structure.”
