Jürgen Klopp left stunned amid Mohamed Salah feat as $89m star thought Liverpool transfer was on

Jürgen Klopp seemingly couldn't believe what he was seeing from Liverpool on Saturday, while there's been a big revelation about an $89m midfielder.

Liverpool picked up its first Premier League victory of the new season on Saturday by beating Bournemouth 3-1 at Anfield.

The visitor threatened to cause an upset when Antoine Semenyo fired it in front in the early minutes, but Liverpool was in front before half-time after a fine goal from Luis Díaz and a rebounded penalty from Mohamed Salah.

Concerns may have taken hold at Anfield early in the second half when Alexis Mac Allister saw red on his home debut for a late challenge on Ryan Christie, but Liverpool responded well and went 3-1 up through Diogo Jota.

The result gives Liverpool four points out of a possible six so far after a 1-1 draw away to Chelsea on the opening weekend. Next weekend, the Reds face a huge test as they travel to Newcastle United, one of the sides that beat them to a Champions League place last season.

As it stands, Mac Allister is set to be unavailable as he serves the first of a three-match suspension, but it remains to be seen whether Liverpool appeals the decision. Jürgen Klopp hinted post-match that the Reds intended to.

Mohamed Salah makes more history but Jürgen Klopp baffled

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah surpassed Steven Gerrard on the club’s all-time scoring charts with his goal against Bournemouth, writes James Findlater.

Salah’s 187th goal in a red shirt took him past the former Reds captain and into sole possession of fifth place on the list, but his next target is a whopping 41 goals up the road.

Meanwhile, Reds boss Klopp was left visibly stunned by his side’s poor start to the game, which saw Bournemouth score one and have another ruled out, and Liverpool generally struggle to string a series of passes together.

Cheick Doucouré expected Liverpool move

Crystal Palace midfielder Cheick Doucouré thought he was going to make a move to Liverpool earlier this week, according to The Independent.

Liverpool has shown an interest in Doucouré but, according to the Daily Mail, he could cost as much as $89m (£70m/€81m), and Palace may have to show some room for maneuvering on that price before any deal can happen.

The Reds have just signed one defensive midfielder in Stuttgart’s Wataru Endo, but there may be more business in that area given that the 30-year-old isn’t necessarily at the level to be first-choice.

There’s still around a fortnight remaining in the transfer window, and it feels as if Liverpool may not be done just yet
