Report: Giannis Antetokounmpo drops several hints that do not include Lakers… see more

Giannis Antetokounmpo is the prettiest girl at the offseason dance that is about to take place. Speculation has already begun on whether Antetokounmpo will hit the dance floor and who his preferred partner will be in the case that he does.

The Los Angeles Lakers would like to fancy themselves a potential trade suitor for Giannis’ services. However, that will certainly be an uphill battle.

One rumor that Lakers fans will cling onto as their biggest source of hope will be the one that came from Howard Beck. The NBA insider suggested that Antetokounmpo prefers a larger market as his next destination.

Beck said on The Zach Lowe Show, ”The initial thing I got from one person was just like some rumblings that it’s already just the big cities: One of the LA teams or one of the New York teams or maybe Miami, not a big market, but a glamour market, mid-size market.”

Antetokounmpo certainly did his part recently to add some fuel to that fire. However, Los Angeles was not one of the recipients of hope from the Milwaukee Bucks superstar’s recent actions.

The two-time MVP took to Twitter/X recently to deliver a unforeseen Q&A. Fans could not help but laugh at the timing of it all.

Anyone who chose to read between the lines during the situation was well-rewarded for taking their time to keep up with all the replies of the back and forth on social media. Antetokounmpo shouted out, whether intentionally or unintentionally, a couple of his potential destinations in the process

A classic question that is always bound to catch the attention of everyone was the answer to the Greek Freak’s favorite city to play in on the road. The NBA champion answered New York. A key response from a player that has been linked to both the Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks.

Giannis also referenced ‘Florida cities’ as destinations that have made him happy to be there. It was another key shoutout from a player that has likewise been linked to the Miami Heat.

Missing from all of this were meaningful references to Los Angeles. There were a couple of mentions involving LeBron James. Kobe Bryant and Magic Johnson got a shout as well. However, it did not quite match the same energy of the direct references to New York and Miami.

Is this peak offseason behaviour, attempting to find meaning in an NBA superstar’s Twitter posts? It absolutely is. Should it concern the Lakers and their fans? Honestly, it really depends on the realistic chance that is being given to Antetokounmpo legitimately landing with the Lakers as his next team.
