The England international has a release clause in his contract worth £68m which can be triggered when the summer transfer window opens
Eze has been linked with a move to North London previously and it is believed that Mikel Arteta’s side are hoping to reinforce the left wing this summer.
Leandro Trossard could leave with just one year left on his contract, while there is a feeling that Arsenal are looking for an upgrade on Gabriel Martinelli.
Is Eze worth the price tag?
The 26-year-old has had a very good season, scoring 13 goals and providing 11 assists in 41 appearances. However, it must be pointed out that the vast majority of his minutes have come whilst playing in central midfield.
Eze can play on the left, but if you are going to spend that much money on a player, it would be wiser to buy someone that is more comfortable in that position.
For that reason, you would still think a target like Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams would be a better fit
In addition to the sizeable asking price, the Gunners will have competition for Eze, with GiveMeSport naming Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester City as other potential suitors.
Of course, with the midfielder having previously played in Arsenal’s academy, you would think he would favour a switch to the Emirates if it comes down to a straight choice between the North London club or a Premier League rival. We shall see how this transfer story unfolds over the coming weeks.
