MN: Timing is everything how Tare’s first week set… see more

As MilanNews recall, after a couple of months of soap opera Tare finally arrived to fill the vacancy of sporting director. He got to work immediately picking the right coach, one called to lead a resurgence after an eighth place finish and disappointing performances in the Champions League and in the Coppa Italia final.

Right here the first difference between the pre and post-Tare Milan are evident. While waiting to evaluate the work of the Albanian – and it is of course impossible to do so after a week – it is clear how the modus operandi and timing have completely changed.

In the midst of the coaching chaos of these days, with Juventus left waiting for Antonio Conte only to be disappointed, Inter apprehensive about Simone Inzaghi who is thinking about Saudi Arabia and Atalanta having to replace Gian Piero Gasperini, the Rossoneri moved quick.

Tare arrived, made a choice and closed for Allegri in a few hours. Whether it will work out on the pitch will be seen over time, but it is a whole different story compared to the unbridled ‘wait-and-see’ attitude of recent seasons which has negatively affected many pursuits.

A year ago, before Stefano Pioli said goodbye to San Siro in a heartfelt and emotional way, there were still conflicting rumours about the possibility that he could stay. Then, of course, there was the Julen Lopetegui saga.

Paulo Fonseca ended up arriving in July despite stories about Roberto De Zerbi, Maurizio Sarri and Conte. It was a decisional delay that had tangible consequences on the entire season, even in the late dismissal of Fonseca at the end of December.

The arrival of a ‘traditional sporting director’, as the CEO Giorgio Furlani called him a few weeks ago, has already borne fruit. MilanNews have no doubt that Beppe Marotta would have called Allegri in the event Inzaghi told him he wants to leave Inter.

Instead, the hot potato is left in the hands of others. Now the Rossoneri have two fixed points, recognisable and respectable, from which to start again. Tare has traced the path: keep quiet and work profitably in silence.
