Milan are expected to be in the market for a centre-forward despite having invested over €30m to sign Santiago Gimenez in the winter transfer window, given Luka Jovic’s deal will soon expire and Tammy Abraham is only on loan.
According to CaughtOffside, Milan are among a ‘host of elite European clubs’ that are keen on Sesko. He scored 21 goals for RB Leipzig across all competitions in the season that has just finished, and is expected to move on.
The source state that Leipzig are demanding a fee in the region of €80m to sell Sesko, which would surely be too much for Milan to consider. Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea are currently leading the race at present.
Sesko has ‘raw power, intelligent movement, and an eye for goal’ that have made the Slovenian international a big target for the London duo, while Liverpool think he could replace Darwin Nunez potentially.
Manchester United have ‘also expressed interest’ but may struggle to compete financially due to ‘ongoing budget constraints’. Juventus, Milan and Tottenham Hotspur are all credited with interest in Sesko too.
The Rossoneri have been frequently linked with a move for Sesko, as recently as the winter mercato but mostly in the 2024 summer window when it is believed an investment was weighed up.
The report concludes: “With Leipzig open to negotiations and Europe’s top clubs ready to bid, the race for Sesko’s signature promises to be one of the defining storylines of the summer transfer window.”
