AC Milan are growing in confidence that Luka Modric will sign on a free transfer, and Wednesday could be the decisive day to close.
Things have moved very quickly on the Modric front. After the first links on Monday night, this has now transitioned to talks over a potential contract, with optimism growing throughout Tuesday that he might arrive.
Modric to Milan close
According to Di Marzio, Milan are accelerating for Modric. In the last few hours, the Rossoneri have received the ‘yes’ from the Croatian midfielder, who has said goodbye to Real Madrid after over a decade there.
There is now confidence that Milan will be able to get his signature by tomorrow, and he would of course arrive on a free transfer. While he cannot be the only signing in the event of Tijjani Reijnders’ sale, the management think adding an experienced Ballon d’Or winner to the squad can help.
According to Sky, Modric is really ‘one step away from Milan’. A verbal agreement has in fact been reached between the Rossoneri and the former Spurs man. The signature is missing, but within the next 24 – maximum 48 hours – that could arrive too.
Modric has just ended his spell in Madrid after 13 seasons, with 28 major trophies lifted in that time. After the rumours of Milan’s interest in the last few hours, Modric – who has been a Rossoneri fan since he was a child – could finally get his ‘dream’ move.
