Breaking news: Zola states Milan made mistakes with Camarda handling last season… see more

We go back a year now since Camarda was the breakout star in Serie A, making his debut at 15. Since then, it has been a regularity to see him involved in some capacity, even starting a few games for Milan this season.

However, there are feelings within Italy that the starlet is being mishandled by the club, even if the Futuro was effectively set up for his benefit.

Across the season, Camarda played 35 times, which is very respectable. However, his minutes were not regular, nor were they really structured. In the season, he played just 1,883 minutes, with 18 games worth being played in Serie C.

From there, it is rather split across Serie A, the Champions League and various youth competitions. In other words, there is a lack of idea, seemingly, with how Camarda should develop and, more importantly, where.

Today, Gianfranco Zola voiced his worries with this strategy, and Milan News relayed his words.

“I don’t know why he didn’t play in the Under-21s. Camarda made some important appearances, but more continuity is also needed. He played, then he didn’t play for a while, then he played in Lega Pro.

“Young people need to play with continuity, unfortunately, with Camarda, this continuity was seen very little. The Zola reform aims to encourage clubs to invest in young people. The hope is that the results will prove us right.

The second team can help with this. In my time, I went from C1 to Napoli. I won’t say I was ready, but I was already able to do my job at Napoli. It’s a championship that helps you, so the second teams are a path that can help the younger ones
