Report: Milan reject €15m bid for Maignan and demand €24m from Chelsea… see more

This morning, Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Milan had more or less reached an agreement with Chelsea at €18m. However, Fabrizio Romano made it clear that the offer was valued at €15m, with Di Marzio now adding that it’s a figure that the Rossoneri have rejected.

On his website, the reputable journalist writes that Chelsea have indeed tabled a €15m offer, but that it was rejected by Milan pretty quickly. Despite the expiring contract, sporting director Igli Tare and co have made it clear that £20m will be needed, which is around €24m.

Only then could the deal be unblocked, per the report, and it remains to be seen if the Stamford Bridge side will satisfy the Rossoneri’s requests. The coming days will obviously be decisive as the English side want the deal wrapped up by Tuesday night.

As we highlighted in our annual ‘explaining the budget for the summer mercato’ piece on Substack, Milan ideally want to make their big sales after July 1. That is because the 2025-26 financial year will be without revenue from European competitions, unlike 2024-25 which has an okay balance.
