Mike Maignan (29) wants to complete a move to Chelsea. As per L’Équipe, the France No.1 has told AC Milan that he will not be renewing his deal with the club. There is therefore an ultimatum: sell me now, or lose me on a free transfer in 12 months’ time.
As per Fabrizio Romano, there has been a considerable gap in the goalkeeper’s valuation. Chelsea believe that, given Maignan’s contract situation, he is worth just €10. AC Milan, meanwhile, value him at €30m. The Italian journalist has since reported that a €15m offer was submitted, whilst reports in Italy have even gone so far as to state that an agreement has been reached. Whilst L’Équipe refute these reports, they do nonetheless state that a deal is on the right track and a deal could soon be struck, which would allow the goalkeeper to join Chelsea ahead of the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup. The transfer deadline before the Club World Cup is on Tuesday. Time is therefore of the essence if a deal is to be completed ahead of the inaugural tournament.
