Report: Arsenal willing to accept sell-on clause…see more

Nathan Butler-Oyedeji is considering a move abroad following his release by Arsenal at the end of the month, according to a report.

Nathan Butler-Oyedeji made his senior debut for Arsenal in 2024/25, but he was subsequently included on a list of 20 players to be released by the Gunners at the end of June.

With Butler-Oyedeji’s contract coming to an end, he’ll be available as a free agent this summer, albeit with a training compensation payment due to Arsenal.

That’s because he spent his entire academy career with the Gunners, going back all the way to 2011.

Pete O’Rourke reports that Arsenal are willing to accept a sell-on clause as part of the compensation deal for signing Butler-Oyedeji, presumably foregoing some of the upfront payment.

O’Rourke writes that a number of clubs in England and abroad have made enquiries for the forward, including Belgian and Swiss sides.

Butler-Oyedeji evidently isn’t closing off any avenues at this stage, with O’Rourke confirming he’s interested in a move abroad.

Butler-Oyedeji was easily one of the Arsenal u21s’ standout players in 2024/25, scoring 11 goals and assisting six in just 17 appearances.

Those performances earned him his first-team debut, but with no obvious route to consistent minutes in north London. A summer transfer was always more likely than a contract extension.

Everyone will be hoping for Butler-Oyedeji to get a good move now, kickstarting the next stage of his career.
