Tight end Jack Endries hasn’t played a down for the Texas Longhorns, but ESPN analysts already believe he’s a “sleeper” for the 2026 NFL Draft. Scouts believe the soon-to-be junior transfer from Cal will thrive in UT coach Steve Sarkisian’s system. The 6-foot-4 and 240 pound TE was one of Sark’s priorities in the transfer portal. “Our number’s really down at the tight end,” Sarkisian said in March. “It’s not a secret that we’ll look to the portal.” Endries announced his transfer to Texas a few weeks later in April.Sark has heavily featured the tight end position over the past two seasons. Ja’Tavion Sanders (2023) and Gunnar Helm (2024) both thrived in Sarkisian’s offense and were both picked in the fourth round of the NFL Draft.According to ESPN draft analyst Matt Miller, Endries could be the best of the bunch. Endries caught 56 passes for 623 yards and two touchdowns last season as a sophomore. Remarkably, the Danville, California native only had one drop last year.
“[Texas coach Steve Sarkisian] is doing a great job developing tight ends and working his offense around them, but I wonder how much Endries will see the ball with Arch Manning’s deep ball,” one AFC West national scout told Miller. “He’s such a good athlete and he can play anywhere. He’s one of the two most talented tight ends in the country.”
