With Luka Jovic out of contract and Tammy Abraham’s loan spell expiring, Milan need to sign another striker to either deputise for Santiago Gimenez or potentially even take the starting spot from him.
There have been many names linked, from Mateo Retegui and Darwin Nunez to Moise Kean and most recently Aleksandr Mitrovic. However, all of the touted deals have some kind of issue, mostly cost-based.
Vlahovic has without doubt been the profile mentioned the most, given his previous working relationship with Massimiliano Allegri and the fact that his contract expires in 12 months.
During his segment with Radio Napoli Centrale, the reliable transfer journalist Matteo Moretto spoke about Milan and more specifically for the attacking department. He was asked: could Vlahovic to Milan really happen
I think so. He is one of Allegri’s first names. As for the names for Milan’s attack, I put forward Vlahovic, because he is a profile that Tare and Allegri like, he generates consensus and also due to the contractual situation he is also a little easier than other objectives,” he said (via MilanNews).
“I have mentioned the name of Darwin Nunez because it is true that Milan have asked for information, just as it is true that they have also moved on other profiles, even of greater European calibre.
“However, to date, if I have to be honest, in terms of costs I would say that Vlahovic could be – if an agreement on the salary is found – the profile that is a little more accessible.”
