AC Milan have overtaken Inter in the race to sign Giovanni Leoni from Parma, according to reports on Friday morning.
Given the reports that continue to link both Malick Thiaw and Fikayo Tomori with a summer exit, Leoni is believed to be among the names that Milan are looking at bringing in to bolster the rearguard ahead of the 2025-26 season. In fact, he has been described as the number one target.
According to this morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews): ‘Leoni, Milan are making their move. Tare is overtaking Inter. Allegri has said yes: the sporting director is jumping on the Parma talent’.
There are four parties in play regarding the situation of Giovanni Leoni. The first is obviously Parma – who are his current club – then there is the player himself. The other two players, for now at least, are Milan and Inter.
The Gialloblu have already reiterated their position to the Milanese clubs: the 18-year-old defender is untouchable and will remain in Emilia for at least another season. However, it is still June 20th and in the face of advantageous offers, an opening cannot be ruled out.
Tuttosport add that Milan have moved to try overcome the competition of the Nerazzurri and intends to take a significant advantage in the negotiations. In the next few days there could be new contacts both with Parma and with the entourage of the former Sampdoria centre-back.
The player is calm and is waiting to discover his future. For now there are only expressions of interest, but Igli Tare wants to speed things up to give Massimiliano Allegri a talent that he clearly rates very highly.
Meanwhile, Corriere dello Sport speaks of a valuation that starts at €30m, with little chance of negotiating. Both teams must first make room for his arrival with a sale.
