Edu Gaspar usually decided his main targets and went all out for them, but his successor at the Emirates Stadium works differently
Berta explores moves for several players at the same time before deciding who to go for, and that, in our opinion, is the wise thing to do.
One of the names Berta has internally discussed at Arsenal is Rafael Leao of AC Milan.
The Portugal international has been a star for AC Milan since he joined them from Lille, and his performances have caught the eye of several big clubs.
Foot Mercato revealed in May that Andrea Berta personally called Leao to let him know about Arsenal’s interest in signing him this summer.
Reports elsewhere have claimed that Mikel Arteta feels Leao would be an upgrade on Gabriel Martinelli and has given his green light to sign the Milan star.
Now, the 26-year-old may have dropped a massive hint.
On his Instagram Story, Leao posted a picture of himself wearing a black T-shirt which features three iconic photographs of Arsenal legend Thierry Henry wearing the famous red and white.
“Dump soon,” Leao wrote in the overlay text at the top right corner of the picture.
Leao must have known that posting a picture of himself in a T-shirt featuring Henry would fuel all the rumours linking him to Arsenal.
It could well be a hint that he is open to a move to the Emirates after AC Milan failed to qualify for the Champions League next season.
However, we think Arsenal should prioritise signing Rodrygo Goes instead.
The Real Madrid star is a lot more accomplished than Leao and is more versatile as well. He is younger too, and we think he is the perfect option for Arsenal.
What makes the Brazilian even more attractive is his price tag – Real Madrid are ready to sell Rodrygo for £70 million, while Italian giants AC Milan are seeking £84 million for Leao.
That makes it an easy decision for Arsenal this summer.
