Arsenal Women are set to complete the signing of Liverpool vice-captain Taylor Hinds on a free transfer, according to The Guardian. The reigning UEFA Women’s Champions League winners have identified the versatile full-back as a key addition ahead of the new season.
Hinds, 26, will return to the club where she began her career, with her current contract at Liverpool set to expire on June 30, 2025. A product of Arsenal’s academy, Hinds made her senior debut for the Gunners in 2017 in a 7–0 FA WSL Cup win over London Bees, before moving on to Everton and later Liverpool.
During her five-year spell with Liverpool, Hinds became a mainstay in the squad, helping the Reds earn promotion to the Women’s Super League in 2022 by winning the FA Women’s Championship. Appointed vice-captain in 2023, she amassed over 100 appearances for the Merseyside club, including 22 outings in the 2024/25 season, in which she scored twice as Liverpool finished seventh.
An international for Jamaica, Hinds previously represented England at youth level. Known for her versatility, she is comfortable at both full-back positions and in midfield, and is admired for her two-footedness, attacking instincts, and delivery from wide areas. Former Everton teammate Chloe Kelly once praised her as “an attacking-minded full-back… who can play off both feet with great delivery into the box.”
Liverpool were keen to retain Hinds and reportedly tabled a strong contract offer. However, the opportunity to return to Arsenal and compete regularly in the Champions League is believed to have swayed the defender’s decision. With Liverpool still in search of a permanent manager following Matt Beard’s departure in February, the club expressed disappointment at Hinds’ departure but wished her well and confirmed the move was on good terms.
Arsenal’s pursuit of Hinds is viewed as a strategic move to add depth and flexibility, particularly at full-back, where she can provide cover for players like Emily Fox. Her arrival could also pave the way for Austrian international Laura Wienroither to leave the club, following her recent loan at Manchester City.
Off the pitch, Taylor Hinds has also earned respect for her leadership and advocacy. In March 2025, she received widespread praise after publicly condemning sexually inappropriate comments made by a spectator during an FA Cup tie against Arsenal. Both clubs backed her statement, and her stand was hailed as a powerful moment in the ongoing push for safer environments in women’s football.
