Real Madrid made it out of Group H as the leaders after their 3-0 win over RB Salzburg on Thursday night and are now through to the knockout stages of the FIFA Club World Cup.

Winning the title and becoming the first-ever club to don the crown is a serious objective for Los Blancos and part of the reason for their sky-high confidence is the desire of Florentino Perez to find a new category to etch the team’s name into the history booksPerez talks to the media

Speaking to the media in a short, yet powerful interview recently, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez was asked about the situation of Vinicius Jr., his potential renewal at the club and the recent underwhelming run of form he has been on generally.

“Vinicius Jr. is one of the best players,” he said, laying faith in the Brazilian talisman.Renewal in progress. (Photo by Michael Owens/Getty Images)

He then relayed that he had little to do in Vinicius’ contract renewal proceedings, saying:“In the Vini Jr. renewal process, the president has little say.”

The club president was then asked to give his two cents on the early days of Xabi Alonso’s tenure at the club.

“The Salzburg game was the best of the three we have played,” he said, praising the team for their display.

He then went on to portray serious confidence in the team and their ability to go down in history as one of the greatest teams of all time.

“We are going to mark an era.”
