AC Milan have once again been linked with an ambitious move for Viktor Gyokeres, who is apparently the ‘dream’ striker target.
In a report last night, La Gazzetta dello Sport published a shortlist of centre-forwards that Milan have on their radar, and they named Gyokeres within it. Now, the same source (seen below) have offered a follow-up regarding the Swede.
There is of course a large chance that he will remain a forbidden dream for Milan, given that he scored 54 goals for Sporting CP last season and has half the world’s eyes on him. At 27 years old he knows he can’t make a mistake in choosing his future club.
In essence, the Rossoneri’s hope is that the English clubs (Arsenal in the lead) will back out and, at that point, they can try to convince the Portuguese and Gyokeres himself. The relationship between Sporting and the striker has soured considerably in recent weeks, too.
The Swede’s agent believed there was a promise to release his client in the face of an offer of at least €60m, while Sporting denied any agreement in this sense. So, the price could be even higher, but Gyokeres is the ideal profile of the striker sought by Milan: goals, size and penalty box presence.
Other big and more accessible names
The former St. Pauli man is not the only striker on Igli Tare’s list. In fact, he could also be defined as ‘hors categoria’, that is out of category compared to the others. The summer is still long and the sporting director does not have a negotiation pending with one or the other.
He went to see Dusan Vlahovic and Aleksandr Mitrovic’s Serbia live, he explored the Darwin Nunez trail, on which Napoli is now much more advanced, and thought about the profile of the Capocannoniere winner Mateo Retegui.
Gonçalo Ramos is now a luxury reserve at PSG and could be an option, Samu Aghehowa (formerly Omorodion) is another expensive name, and then there is Alexander Sorloth who is a little older but had a super year at Atletico Madrid.
Moving down the list we find Breel Embolo, a Swiss centre-forward at Monaco. Vangelis Pavlidis is the same age as Gyokeres (born in 1998) and plays for the other side of Lisbon (Benfica). Milan have followed him since he was at AZ Alkmaar and he scored 30 goals in 2024-25.
Emanuel Emegha of Strasbourg, Ermedin Demirovic of Strasbourg and Artem Dovbyk are also mentioned. Names decidedly less striking than Gyokeres, the dream of the beginning of the summer.
