Kevin Durant has been traded to the Houston Rockets, but the blockbuster move might only be the startThe Los Angeles Lakers are among the teams working with the Rockets and Phoenix Suns to expand the Durant trade into what could become a league-record seven-team deal, according to Fred Katz of The Athletic.

Along with the Lakers, the other teams involved in negotiations include the Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, and Minnesota Timberwolves.

No trade is imminent yet, as details are still being finalized as of Wednesday night.Kevin Durant has been traded to the Rockets, and the Lakers are among several teams, including the Hawks, Nets, Warriors, Timberwolves, and Suns, negotiating to expand the deal into a potential record-setting seven-team blockbuster. In the scenarios discussed so far, most of the recognizable names are from trades that have already been agreed upon and reported but not yet completed.

According to The Athletic, the Hawks would send Clint Capela to the Rockets in a sign-and-trade. Durant would go to Houston, while the previously reported return package—Dillon Brooks and Jalen Green—would head to Phoenix.Although the Lakers’ specific role has not been fully disclosed, they are actively participating in discussions that could reshape several rosters across the league.

At this stage, only five players who played in the NBA last season are included in the current framework of the deal: Durant, Brooks, Green, Capela, and Daeqwon Plowden. The rest of the players being discussed come from draft-night trades that have been agreed to but can’t be finalized until July 6.

For now, the largest trade in NBA history is the six-team deal that sent Klay Thompson to the Dallas Mavericks last summer, but this Lakers-involved negotiation could set a new record.
