Arsenal could be set for a major shake-up in attack this summer, with Saudi side Al Nassr reportedly ready to offer €85million to sign one of their key players.
Brazilian forward Gabriel Martinelli, who just turned 24, was once tipped to follow a similar developmental arc to Bukayo Saka. However, while Saka has become one of Europe’s elite wingers, Martinelli’s progress has stagnated. Now, they could be set to part ways, with Ben Jacobs reporting Saudi side Al Nassr are prepared to spend €85million on Martinelli.
With Arsenal targeting elite-level upgrades on the left wing, the club may now be open to cashing in on Martinelli — particularly if Al Nassr push their offer closer to €100million.
Martinelli is currently valued at €55million on Transfermarkt, so any sale at €85–100million would represent a significant profit and likely exceed his current market value.
Arsenal’s internal valuation of Martinelli is understood to be higher than Al Nassr’s current offer, but if the bid rises, it could prove irresistible. That would open the door to a high-profile replacement — and one name gaining traction is Rodrygo.
The Real Madrid forward, also 24, is seen by some inside the club as a more rounded and consistent attacker than Martinelli. Despite his stature at Madrid, there is a sense that Rodrygo could be available for less than the fee Arsenal would command for Martinelli. On paper, it could represent a smart swap — Arsenal would gain a player with similar potential but arguably a higher floor, while pocketing profit to reinvest.
In addition to targeting a new left winger, Arsenal will push for midfield reinforcements. The club are advancing talks to sign Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace, in a separate deal believed to be worth around €55million. The 27-year-old is admired for his ability to break lines and offer a more dynamic attacking presence from midfield. Read more about Arsenal’s move for Eze here.
This summer promises to be one of evolution at the Emirates, with Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta plotting bold moves to close the gap to Manchester City. The possible departure of Martinelli — once considered untouchable — highlights how ruthless Arsenal are willing to be to take the next step.
