AC Milan are looking for a right-back ahead of next season and according to a report, they have set their sights on Almeria’s Marc Pubill.
Following the departures of Davide Calabria, Alessandro Florenzi and soon also Emerson Royal, it’s clear that Milan need to reinforce the right-back position. Alex Jimenez and Alexis Saelemaekers are currently the only options for that role, though they could be used more in attack.
Quite a few names have been linked with the club in recent weeks, such as Guela Douè, and Igli Tare is currently evaluating the most cost-effective solution. With a lot of money expected to be spent elsewhere, it’s certainly not the position that Milan will invest the most money in.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, speaking on Sky Italia last night, Milan are keeping a close eye on Almeria’s right-back Marc Pubill. The 22-year-old was a starter for Spain in the U21 Euros last month and impressed with his performance, as he did in La Liga this past season.
He has a price tag of around €15m and in addition to Milan, Barcelona are also in the race to secure his services. The Camp Nou side would like to sign him and then leave him on loan for a season, while the Rossoineri would obviously need him immediately.
As highlighted by Di Marzio, Pubill came close to joining Atalanta and Gian Piero Gasperini in the past, which suggests he is a player with a lot of talent and potential.
