AC Milan’s pre-season will officially start on Monday and Max Allegri has delivered ‘Ten Commandments’ to the players to prepare them for what’s to come.
The 2024-25 season was a huge disappointment for Milan, finishing in eighth place, losing the Coppa Italia final and getting knocked out against Feyenoord in the Champions League. A complete turnaround is needed to succeed this upcoming season, as such.
Allegri will be at the helm of that turnaround as the Rossoneri have tasked him with leading the team. Today, along with some of the players, he arrived at Milanello for fitness tests but the official start of pre-season will be on Monday next week.
Allegri’s Ten Commandments
As reported by today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo below), Allegri hasn’t wasted any time, bringing the players up to speed in recent weeks. For him, there are ‘Ten Commandments’ that all players must follow in order to remain in the squad:
- Forget about last season and start from scratch
- Rediscover the Milan DNA; the desire to win
- The first thought must be the team
- Double training sessions from the first day
- Without mid-week games, there will be tough sessions during the week
- Late arrivals to training will be punished with squad exclusion (for next game)
- No cell phones between meetings, meals and the locker room
- Pay attention to your weight; breakfast and lunch at Milanello
- Tough team; fewer goals must be conceded
- On the pitch, the simple choice must be made
All points are valid, of course, and it will be very interesting to see how the players will respond. Especially those who perhaps had some attitude issues last season, even if most of them already have one foot out the door.
