Liverpool return to Premier League action when they take on Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.
The Reds currently sit eighth in the league table with four points to their name from their opening two games of the season. Jurgen Klopp’s side claimed their first win of the season against Bournemouth last time out.
The fitness of Ibrahima Konate will be checked ahead of this afternoon’s game, while Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alexis Mac Allister are both available. However, Reds boss Klopp will be without Thiago Alcantara and Curtis Jones.
Newcastle, on the other hand, were beaten by Manchester City last time out, but they did claim an impressive 5-1 victory over Aston Villa on the opening day of the season.
Kicking off at 4.30pm, and live on Sky Sports, Paul Gorst and Ian Doyle will both be at St. James’ Park to bring you live updates on the action, as well as bringing you team news, analysis and reaction.
Huge result
Some character shown by Liverpool there, who played over two thirds of the game with a man less. Jota was excellent when he came on but it’s Nunez with the headlines. Two chances, two goals. Feels like it could be a massive victory already.
FT: Newcastle 1-2 Liverpool
Darwin Nunez’s snatches all three points right at the death. Huge result for the Reds!
Goal! Newcastle 1-2 Liverpool (Nunez)
Liverpool might just have won this! Nunez with his second. What a finish
Oh how the tables have turned
Newcastle fans getting very unhappy with some Alisson Becker time wasting…
Nunez, Nunez, Nunez
That’s a superb finish from Darwin Nunez to fire Liverpool level! He kept his head down and eye on the ball and struck through it beautifully to beat Nick Pope with a low drive. The Reds have parity, against all odds. The away fans are making all the noise now
