Chelsea have reportedly rekindled their interest in Manchester United outcast Alejandro Garnacho after deciding to sell Noni Madueke to Arsenal.
Garnacho, 21, was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge during the January transfer window and the Blues have initiated contact with his camp in recent days as they ponder a possible bid this summer.
That is according to TBR Football, who claim that Chelsea retain an “active interest” in Garnacho, although they will reportedly face competition for his signature from Aston Villa.
The Argentina international is expected to leave Man Utd on a permanent deal this summer, after a public bust-up with head coach Ruben Amorim, and his representatives are currently assessing his options after rejecting an offer from Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr.
Garnacho is eager to remain in the Premier League and Chelsea are one of the frontrunners for his signature, despite their recent signing of Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens.
The England U21 international is seen as a replacement for Jadon Sancho, who has returned to Man Utd following a loan spell at Stamford Bridge last season, and Chelsea are open to signing another winger due to Madueke’s departure, as per The Athletic.
Garnacho is seen as a potential option, with Man Utd desperate to sell the winger this summer.
Enzo Maresca’s side have accepted a €60 million offer for Madueke and the 23-year-old is set to be unveiled as Arsenal’s fourth signing of the summer after leaving Chelsea’s Club World Cup squad ahead of their victory over Paris Saint-Germain.
Madueke will provide cover on both flanks for the Gunners, although he is primarily seen as a player who will ease Bukayo Saka’s workload on the right wing.
The England star will sign a five-year contract at the Emirates Stadium and reports suggest his move to north London will be officially confirmed on Tuesday.
