TBR Football has learned how Arsenal really feel about their deal for Viktor Gyokeres being delayed as talks continue with Sporting CP.
Arsenal have a broad agreement for Gyokeres worth around £60 million plus another £9m in add-ons, with the final details being discussed.
As TBR Football revealed, Gyokeres hoped to fly to London early this week, but discussions remain ongoing between the two clubs.
But despite Sporting CP’s attempts to renegotiate the terms of a deal, the Gunners’ feelings have been made clear about finalising an agreement.
Arsenal are not concerned by the delay in getting a deal done for Viktor Gyokeres as they remain in talks with Sporting CP over an agreement, TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey can confirm.
Reports suggested on Tuesday that Sporting CP were demanding more cash for Gyokeres from the Gunners.
But the North London club are not bothered by the Portuguese club’s attempts to renegotiate the deal down to the final details.
Arsenal and Sporting are just trying to work out how the add-ons will be paid, and there is an expectation that the deal will be concluded by the end of this week.
Bailey told TBR Football: “Talks over the finer details are continuing, it is down to the make-up of add-ons as we know.
“Arsenal are not worried, and I’m not sure you can even be described as frustrated, to be honest – there is little doubt this deal gets done.
“They appreciate the fans’ frustration; everyone at the club wants their new number nine. Everything is in place, apart from how the add-ons will be paid. Expectation is that it will be concluded this week.”
Mikel Arteta will be keen to get his new striker in before the Gunners jet off on a tour of Asia on July 19, with their first game in Singapore on the 23rd against AC Milan.
After wrapping up deals for Gyokeres, Cristhian Mosquera and Noni Madueke, a new left winger seems to be the aim for Andrea Berta.
Eberechi Eze over Rodrygo Goes are the two main contenders for the left wing at Arsenal, but the club should be prioritising the former.
Arteta views Eze as the final piece of the puzzle for his Arsenal team, and the Gunners could accelerate talks once Gyokeres is signed.
The Brazilian didn’t have a particularly stellar campaign for Real Madrid last term, and the North London club should steer clear of him.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have entered the race for Rodrygo, which could make that deal even more complicated.
