Report: Sporting could ‘file lawsuit’ against Viktor Gyokeres after striker takes things into his own hands to seal move…see more

Sporting Clube de Portugal could reportedly file a lawsuit against Viktor Gyokeres amid claims he is edging closer to a move to Arsenal.

With the summer transfer window in full swing, the Gunners have been busy as they look to provide Mikel Arteta with a squad capable of finally winning the Premier League.

So far, Arsenal have signed Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Christian Norgaard.

Meanwhile, the likes of Gyokeres, Cristhian Mosquera, Eberechi Eze and Rodrygo have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.

This week, it emerged that Arteta’s search for a new striker is nearing its end, with Gyokeres said to be the chosen target.

On Thursday, Arsenal fans have been going wild on social media after seeing pictures online, which are believed to be Gyokeres’ house.

As reported by CNN, the Swedish international’s house is ‘undergoing changes with a house removal van. The end of the saga is near’.

However, CNN Portugal’s Bruno Andrade has claimed that if Gyokeres were to travel to Arsenal before the deal was done, it could lead to legal action.

Taking to social media, an X user translated Andrade’s report, saying: “If Gyökeres travels with the Arsenal delegation, it’s one of two things:

– The deal is done

– If he does it without finalising a deal, he’s giving Sporting Lisbon’s management grounds for a lawsuit against him, but this is absolutely unlikely.”

The Athletic’s David Ornstein recently gave an update on the transfer saga involving Arsenal and Gyokeres.

He said on Sky Sports: “They still need to put the finishing touches on the nature of the add-ons and there are reports coming from Portugal tonight that the Sporting president, Frederico Varandas wants near, fixed and guaranteed add-ons and maybe Arsenal’s thoughts on how you get to those add-ons are a little bit different.

“I guess these are naturally parts of the closing stages of negotiations and it can get a little bit tense. Arsenal are in a very advanced position on this and they’re trying to close it out. It’s not done just yet but they’ll be hopeful they can do so and get him on their pre-season tour.”
