Roma have secured Devis Vasquez as their new goalkeeper on a free transfer, just days after he terminated his contract with Milan by mutual consent.
The Giallorossi were searching for an understudy to Mile Svilar, as Pierluigi Gollini is heading out of the Stadio Olimpico this summer.
The somewhat surprising candidate is Vasquez, who already underwent medical tests in Rome and will put pen to paper on a contract.
It is a reunion for him with Roma director of sport Frederic Massara, who had been at Milan when he was first signed at San Siro back in January 2023.
Since then, the 27-year-old has gone on loan spells at Sheffield Wednesday, Ascoli and Empoli, but terminated his contract by mutual consent on July 25.
Just days later, the Colombian agreed the free transfer to Roma.
Notably, Il Tempo newspaper points out that because he was registered to Milan, it means Vasquez will not take up a non-EU slot in the Roma squad this season.
