Blackburn Rovers have made a fresh move to secure the future of teenage striker Igor Tyjon, offering the 17-year-old a professional contract amid mounting interest from Arsenal, according to Alan Nixon on Patreon.
The Championship side have already turned down two offers from the Gunners for the highly rated forward, whose performances at youth level and brief first-team cameos have caught the eye.
Tyjon, on a scholarship deal until 2026, became eligible for professional terms in March, and Blackburn have been working to tie him down on a long-term basis since then.
Arsenal’s pursuit began earlier this summer, with an opening bid believed to be worth around £1 million plus add-ons rejected by the Lancashire club. A second offer was also dismissed, as Rovers hold out for a higher fee for the youngster, who joined from Rochdale two years ago.
The North London side are said to be weighing up a third approach as they look to strengthen their under-21 ranks with a view to developing future first-team talent.
Tyjon made his Championship debut last season at just 16 against Bristol City in September, later appearing against Sunderland. His prolific goal-scoring record in youth football has drawn comparisons to some of England’s brightest prospects, and manager John Eustace is expected to give him more senior minutes this season.
Reports suggest the improved deal from Rovers is designed to persuade Tyjon to commit his future to Ewood Park, with Premier League rivals Manchester United also monitoring his progress.
While Blackburn have yet to comment publicly, sources close to the club insist they are determined to fend off suitors and nurture the striker’s development in-house.
