AC Milan’s sporting director Igli Tare has confirmed that Rasmus Hojlund is an option that the management are exploring.
As we approach the final part of the summer transfer window, the big gap in Milan’s squad is in the centre-forward role, at least in the eyes of the coach and directors. Hojlund is the main name being linked, though there seems to be some doubts about whether he will give the green light.
Elsewhere, Tare has nearly completely rebuild the midfield after Tijjani Reijnders was sold. Samuele Ricci, Luka Modric and Ardon Jashari have all arrived. Zachary Athekame and Pervis Estupinan are the two full-backs that have joined too.
Tare spoke to Mediaset before kick-off in the Coppa Italia round of 32 against Bari at San Siro, and his comments were relayed by MilanNews.
Is Hojlund a name you are evaluating?
“Hojlund is a good option for us. We’re evaluating him these days, but the transfer market is unpredictable. We know we have to intervene in that position, and we also know they need to be players who can bring something extra to this group.”
What about Vlahovic
“This is also an option, a striker has to arrive.”
Why a midfield overhaul?
“Our intention, as we demonstrated to you when you came to Casa Milan, was to intervene in midfield. Milan must dominate matches. With the arrival of Modric, Jashari, and Ricci, I think I’ve raised the technical level of this team.”
How did you convince Modric?
“It wasn’t very difficult. He supported AC Milan as a child. We hit it off like two former kids supporting the same team. I immediately understood that he was thinking about Milan, and I tried to convey his enthusiasm: his arrival is an added value for this team.”
