TBR Football understands that Arsenal would now ideally like to sign Rodrygo on loan from Real Madrid this summer.
Although Andrea Berta has already welcomed attacking additions like Viktor Gyokeres and Noni Madueke to Arsenal, the Gunners are still in the market for a left winger.
Gabriel Martinelli began the season on the left for Arsenal in their 1-0 win over Manchester United.
But come the end of August, Mikel Arteta’s attack could look very different, especially if Berta is able to recruit Rodrygo from Spain.
TBR Football shared earlier in the summer that Rodrygo is a dream target for Arsenal, and along with Manchester City, Arteta’s side are continuing to pursue a deal.
That being said, chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that both Arsenal and Man City had fresh contact with Rodrygo’s camp last weekend.
On their part, Arsenal are ready to make a push for Rodrygo, but they do also need to make room in their squad in order to do so.
Leandro Trossard is expected to leave Arsenal, and the likes of Reiss Nelson, Fabio Vieira and Oleksandr Zinchenko are all available too.
And perhaps with that in mind, it’s understood that Arsenal would ideally like to sign Rodrygo on loan from Real Madrid.
Arsenal fans will recall that Arteta welcomed Martin Odegaard to the club on loan from Real back in 2021, a move that was then made permanent.
And it’s clear that the two clubs have a good relationship, which may help Arsenal to bring the Brazilian to the Emirates Stadium.
Unfortunately for Arsenal, Man City are also very much in the mix to sign Rodrygo.
TBR Football recently revealed that Savinho is keen to leave City to join Tottenham Hotspur, a move which might cause double frustration for their north London rivals.
Not only would Spurs be strengthened by Savinho’s arrival, but his move to N17 might also lead City to execute a deal for Rodrygo.
Arsenal have done a lot of work on signing Rodrygo from Real, and they’ve been patiently waiting for the situation to unfold throughout the summer.
But it could prevail as a two-horse race for the Brazil international, who will be keen to have a strong season in the lead up to next summer’s World Cup.
