Arsenal could look to sign Real Madrid winger Rodrygo in the coming days of the transfer window, according to reports – with the Gunners keen on adding a loanee to their club as an audacious move for the Brazilian is lined up.
Arsenal won their first game of the season on Sunday in a solid start to their Premier League endeavours, but there are another 37 games to go – and quality wins you games in that time. As a result, they’re looking for added stars and Rodrygo could be just the tonic.
The report by TBR Football states that Arsenal would now ideally like to sign Rodrygo from Real Madrid this summer – but only on a loan deal, having already splashed the cash on Noni Madueke from Chelsea and Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres earlier in the transfer window.
Regardless, the Gunners are still in the market for a left-winger, and having spent vast amounts of money already, they could make a push to land the Los Blancos star on a temporary deal.
Gabriel Martinelli began the campaign on the left-hand side in the 1-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday, though he didn’t impress too much in what was a lacklustre performance from the Gunners overall, with United having knocked on the door heavily in the Premier League curtain-raiser.
If director of football Andrea Berta can land the Brazilian, who earns £345,000-a-week – Arteta’s attack would be massively improved in their bid to finally win silverware after failing to do so for half a decade, and reports earlier in the window have suggested that he is a dream target for the Gunners hierarchy.
Arsenal have had fresh contact with his camp over the weekend, and are ready to make a push – but an outgoing will be needed to do so. Leandro Trossard, Reiss Nelson, Fabio Vieira and Oleksandr Zinchenko are all reportedly available for transfer, but their exits have not been pushed on just yet, and that is why they may only sign Rodrygo on loan.
The Brazilian star has been a first-team player at the Santiago Bernabeu ever since his move to Spain at the age of just 18, making 172 La Liga appearances for the 15-time Champions League winners, as well as another 98 in all competitions. 13 major trophies have followed, but that could come to an end with Arsenal aiming to win just one of those.
